The Area

Kissimmee - a short history

The city of Kissimmee was founded in 1883, but originally started out as small trading post on the northern bank of Lake Tohopekaliga known as the community of “Allendale”.

Trading on cypress lumber, cattle, sugar cane and citrus fruits, the city prospered but then boomed in the 1970’s with the opening of Walt Disney World resort area and other tourist attractions.

Location, location, location!

Located in Central Florida, Kissimmee is best situated for access to the Walt Disney World area, Sea World, Cypress Gardens, Universal Studios, the Kennedy Space Center and other sites.

You’ll find hiking trails, a fishing pier and observation towers in the area. Kissimmee also has a fifty-mile chain of lakes (Lake Tohopekaliga being famous for the best Bass fishing in the USA), which are home to ospreys, cranes and alligators.

A quick tour of the area

The situation of your villa means you have quick and easy access to the US 192 allowing you to eat, drink and be merry at shops and restaurants at Liberty Village with Kissimmee 'Old Town' next door.

From the 'Old Town' follow International Drive (or try Water Mania and Arabian Nights) up to Sea World (visit Discovery Cove to swim with the Dolphins) and on to Universal Studios (and the Islands of Adventure).

Be sure not to miss out on shopping at Belz discount centres.

A Walmart supercentre can be used for all your shopping needs.
Take a right on exiting Laguna Bay Villas.
One mile south for a left turn into Oren Brown Road.
Carry along to Medieval Times.
The 24 hour Walmart is on your right - it's 3 minutes in the car!
